Mass Pass is a specific efficiency tool used inside an inspection form to mark results for an entire list of sub-components at once. This feature is designed to handle the compliant equipment so the technician can focus on the deficiencies.

  • The “Fail First” Method: Technicians can choose to manually inspect and mark any deficient items as “Fail” individually first, then use the bulk tool to instantly pass the remaining compliant equipment.
  • The “Pass First” Walk-Through: Alternatively, for quick visual inspections like monthly or quarterly emergency lights, technicians will use the tool to bulk-mark the entire inventory as “Pass” first, then walk the building and manually change any failed devices to deficient as they spot them.
  • Targeting Incomplete Items: Once failures are documented, the Mass Pass command only affects items still marked as “Incomplete,” instantly updating them to a “Pass” status.
  • Office-Defined Results: The app uses the default “Pass” values configured by the office in the backend, ensuring the data is consistent across all reports.
  • Mandatory Question Blocks: To ensure data integrity, Mass Pass will not work if the form includes a mandatory question, such as a specific gauge reading, that requires unique data for each unit.

Batch Record Updates with Mass Service

It is important to distinguish between “Mass Pass” and “Mass Service.” While Mass Pass handles inspection results inside a form, Mass Service is used on the main mobile Equipment tab to update service records and dates for a batch of equipment.

  • Updating Service History: Technicians can use the PZ mobile app to select a specific Service Type and update the records for a group of equipment in one action.
  • Cleaner Equipment Tracking: This ensures that 6-year maintenance or 12-year hydrotest dates are updated across the entire inventory correctly without individual manual entry.

Handling Inaccessible Devices

A high-velocity workflow must also account for real-world obstacles like locked doors or blocked equipment. Instead of leaving these items blank or “pending,” the PZ mobile app allows technicians to officially mark devices as “Inaccessible.”

  • Documenting Exceptions: Technicians can select a specific reason code and add comments to explain why a device could not be reached.
  • Liability Protection: This protocol ensures that every device on the order is accounted for, providing a clear paper trail for the office and the customer regarding why certain equipment was not serviced.

Strategy Over Stamina

By using mass-action tools for the majority of compliant equipment and specific exception protocols for inaccessible items, technicians can complete high-volume jobs with much higher velocity. This approach moves the focus from manual data entry to professional compliance oversight.
